Facing the fear of change

“People”, such a strong force it is. This word is what drives us crazy and has proven to be the perfect scale to measure our insanity, if not sanity. Whatever we do, the smallest actions we take contribute to building this huge word, “People.”

What is it that makes us so aggressive and so driven towards living a life that these “People” live, express or even want? Yes! We sometimes tend to follow someone else’s dreams just because those “People” influenced us into it. Why do we get so much influenced by those “People” who never really lived our life, haven’t even breathed our breath? Why can’t these people understand a simple concept of individuality? We humans are so much attracted and comfortable to familiarity and so terrified of the unknown, that we tend to live on the terms of the so-called society. This familiarity hinders the genesis of a new idea and that hinders the genesis of a new world. And not only that, some of us even try to impose this thought process on the ones who are not yet able to differentiate the right from wrong, good from evil, ugly from beautiful, the kids.

Just look at this world, so much hatred, all around us. Sometimes even in our homes, our parents tell us who to befriend, who to hate, who to love. That only creates a divide and also leads to the development of these scared individuals who can’t even trust the people they love or find good at heart.

It’s good to share the stories of experiences but it’s harmful to imprint the biased memories of your experiences, that may have not happened the way you remember, on those young growing minds. The very idea of an “Idea” is behind its inception in a unique brain and not being adulterated by this society’s library of deranged opinions, biases and rules born purely out of an individual’s own convenience. It was just and idea on a leader that a mass of spineless individual listened to and consequently formed it into a society, a religion, a belief.

I’m not saying change the way others believe, rather change the process that goes behind creating new beliefs. Take it this way, someone says “Fire burns”, but to a small child, it doesn’t look like it burns, in fact it looks beautiful, it looks soft and flow-y. Unless the child touches a flame and burns or hurts himself, he doesn’t know what burning means. Again, I’m not saying throw your child into the fireplace. I’m saying, let them think, let them make decisions, let them get hurt a bit. It’s natural. They will learn even faster than you did when you were that small and listened to every decisions your folks made for you without letting you think on your own.

Yes, we humans are naturally scared of the unknown and we find comfort in the road we travel everyday and the “People” who we listen to, to make our smallest decisions. I know it feels weird to even walk a reverse lap on that evening walk route. I know, change feels weird even sad sometimes. But it’s worth it. The fear is worth it. And, if you’re that scared of changes, help make your kids love the change, help them love the fear of walking a strange land. Watching a strange dream, listening to the huge collection of all the genres of the music of life. Let them think, let them innovate, let them create. Ideas are only harmful when they’re born out of hatred and prejudiced opinions and the “People” around us know the best ways to spread hatred and the thought of division. Help them grow, help them turn into the “People” you dream to be and not the “People” you listen to, to even dream.
